Ketch the Sun


Photo Information
Transient winter afternoon sunlight breaking through the clouds and sea mists - lighting up a wooden gaff-rigged ketch named 'Josephine' in front of the Breakwater, at Brixham in South Devon.
Thatcher rock is the island in the distance (which is off the eastern headland of Torbay).

Sigma 55-200mm DC lens (at 200mm)
Cromatek circular polarizer
Hand-held
f/8
1/125 second

Pseudo-HDR from 3 split-RAW processed 16-Bit TIFFs (at -2, 0, +2) equivalents using Photomatix Pro 3.26.

Further work in Adobe Photoshop 6.0 including a blend with an Orton effect version of the HDR.

I am very grateful for all the thoughtful and encouraging comments! Had been quite murky there most of the day and the few bursts of sunlight were definetly delightful Have plans for a big panorama from somewhere in the harbour sometime soon...
