Daughter in a Beanie

Took this as quick as quick manually on a rare 120mm lens with no chance to 'focus on the eyes'. On my flickr site this is a fave for a lot of people. Along with a pic of the dragon-like Welsh sky and Mist and thoughts of flight, these three are the most popular.

Yes, this has been mentioned before now on my flickr site.....those old film star/dancer/cartoon connections. I looked them up at the time and saw the similarities. Cheers.

This goes to prove that a shot doesn't have to be "technically" perfect, whatever definition you may apply to the parameter, to be a striking and timeless image, which is what you have achieved here.

Thanks Paul. Ron Davies [Welsh photographer] told me a while back that I should have focussed on the eyes to get them sharp. I love the softness here. I usually don't take portraits but I know 'eye focus' is considered good practice. This was when I had sticky mirror problems and focusing on the distant horizon would probably have given me the right result . But I like Imogen Cunningham's work and that has a certain blur about it that creates a great feel to the subjects.
