Yes... why the flash?

You don't need to use a flash and believe it or not you can hand hold the camera shooting the moon! If you have a good clear night and the Moon is well lit you can get some great shots!

This was taken using a Sigma 500mm Mirror lens at f8 on 1/160th shutter speed!

I did not use my flash for the frist couple of shots. The moon was white with a blue sky....it was dust not night....maybe thats why?

I must admit I was trying a tripod and fannying about with long exposures and then I had that epiphany moment and realised I could hand hold the bugger!

Try it... If you get a nice clear shot of the moon and it's bright you can hand hold it! Take a few test shots and adjust your exposure.
