Many thanks to you both for the kind comments.

This was one of the few blooms in the kitchen garden at Knightshayes which was not past it's best. I therefore stood back and used the Sigma 18-250 zoomed out to give the reduced DoF to blur out the faded blooms nearby.
This was a hand held shot and there was a breeze so it was a case of 'take a deep breath and wait till the bloom stayed still for a moment' !

This was also a chance for me to try out the 'Vignetting' effect in PSE11 which, like the 'Old Photo' effect, I have only just discovered !!!
