Barbed wire makes a nice contrast with bird and background. Did you think about lightening up the eye in PP, and perhaps the belly feathers?

I've lightened the image substantially. You should have seen the original...basically a blackbird in a coal bunker.

Took the image as soon as I got there...light was quite bad and being all manual my first few shots were guesswork until i was able to tweak towards the desired outcome. My initial settings were geared towards aircraft taking off not unexpected feathered flying things!

Nice of you to take the trouble anyway...ta.
