A beautiful capture, nicely lit and in context. Just saw a news item yesterday that where pine martens are expanding their territory the grey squirrels are retreating and red squirrels taking over. Apparently the pine martens are squirrel predators and the greys are too slow whereas the reds are smaller and nimbler, having evolved to cope with the pine martens. Interesting eh?

Thanks for the nice comments. Funny how it works out. Some were slightly tamer near the feeders but none of those were particularly inspiring. This was a chance shot as I was walking along a remoter path and I just saw it looking from up in the tree. Thought it would be rubbish against the sky but as is often the way the surprise ones are the best!
