Old Shop in Alašatı

by nonur

Shot after sunset in one of the narrow streets of the small town which is invaded by Istanbulians. Many of the old shops like this one and houses rapidly restored or rather rennovated to be sold or hired in enormous prices. Some look nice, but some others are made to be imitations of the old only. The town is filled with gift shops and restaurants and cafes; and all this happened in a couple of years.
It is a pitiful experience to me as I remember them from my childhood. However, it made me happy to see some of the native occupants leading the same kind of life still, in spite of the tourists cramming the town and the new commers who live there in the houses of their fathers in summers only.

Thank you Larry; but the fact is time is passing and we are getting old,so it is destructive. However, it's a bliss to be able to see those few things that still remain and give us that sense of timelessness. Here I cannot help recalling Shakespeare's "Since brass, nor stone, nor earth, nor boundless sea..."

You see how serious I am!
Regards,
Nezih
