Round The Island Race

by JamesWillmott

The original photograph was taken in colour on a cold, damp, overcast, windy day at 5:40 AM, just after the start of the 2017 Round the Island Race at Cowes, Isle of Wight, UK. By converting it to monochrome, using Silver Efex Pro 2, I feel it has improved the overall impact.
Pentax K-3 II plus (Sigma) 150/500 zoom lens (at 320mm on a monopod), shot at 1/200th second at F6.3, camera body shake reduction enabled and ISO/ASA 1,600.

This image really conveys a sense of the action, James. Like it.

That looks wonderful fun -- except for the little matter of getting up so early.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
