In Limbo.

by pauljay

A rare trip to my home city saw us in Covent Garden on a cool Sunday evening last week. The way to keep warm, it seems, is to limbo dance and have crowds of people throw money at you!
The reason for the London trip was to escape from the drunken "Carnaval" events that were taking place here in the south of the Netherlands.

Those dark shadows are very well handled. Not an easy shot to take.
Best wishes,

One that you really need to concentrate looking at - but well worth the effort - very nice

Well captured and works well in portrait, good use of the 28-300, so little noise for ISO3200. What are these "carnaval" events, must be pretty horrific if you feel the need to leave the country.

I would have thought that it is a long-forgotten dance. Obviously it is not, at some quarters at least. Amazingly sharp shot, Paul! Well done!

Jim, Carnaval, or sometimes Karnaval, consists of alcoholic mayhem over a period of days. The local parade forms up in our short, quiet village street and thus, for a couple of hours, we get blasted by the Dutch equivalent of 'oompah' music and treated to the sight of kids walking up and down the street drinking beer, and then relieving themselves of it in somebody's front garden! I swear I'll go out with a pair of scissors one year! Despite all my years here I shall never be able to align with that mentality. I noticed on FaceBook yesterday a posting from a Brit colleague, who had done the same as us and gone to London, asking if it was safe to come home!
In a nutshell.
