Hi David... thanks very much for the above... actually on this particular evening, the sheltered nature of the cove vs the prevailing wind direction, and the lack of a significant swell in the water, meant that the wind was considerably wilder than the sea, hence the long exposure... hope that helps...

Superb shot, Bill. The reflection on the foreground rock adds so much depth to this image. Did you have to use an ND Grad to balance the sky ?

Yes, a 6 stop ND to slow the shutter speed to 20 seconds, and a 3 stop nd grad to balance the sky...

Stunning outcome, love the silky water as it appears to drape over the foreground rock also the golden reflection on the rock.

A photograph of two halves left and right. I don't understand the technical. Just thankful that it exists to achieve these results. The photographs of long exposure are a real calmer in a busy lifestyle. So thanks for that.

A beautiful capture and it brings back many memories.
I know the area well. Always used to throw stones at rough seas from the slipway - as a kid. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all... forgot to say... the pov of this one actually chose itself... the sea spray was being blown in all directions by the wind, and the only shelter I could find from it was behind the foreground left rock... so tried to find a way to make the composition work from there...

I would also like to see a normal length exposure (if you have one) at this location, to see the wild sea in all its detail and glory
