Bryn Athyn Cathedral Collage

Bryn Athyn Cathedral Collage

Photo Information
Collage of the Bryn Athyn Cathedral which houses the doors of my portfolio pic, 'Ancient Doors'. Just a glimpse of the interior and exterior inspired by the Gloucester Cathedral in England.

Bryn Athyn Cathedral, dedicated in 1919, is a highly acclaimed Gothic and Romanesque style complex located in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania just outside of Philadelphia, USA.The exterior appearance of the Cathedral itself is reminiscent of Gloucester Cathedral in England.

I like a bit of Victorian gothic, Donna. A most interesting building nicely photographed. You'd love to see Gloucester which actually isn't reckoned to be in the first rank of English cathedrals but is still very lovely. As you say, the layout is similar with a crossing tower
Best wishes,

In the first picture in the collage it looks a lot more like Gloucester than in the earlier shot of the interior door. The colour of the stonework is similar to 'our' Gloucester Cathedral and it also displays the classic English Gothic style of tower. This is a lovely set of pictures Donna, thanks for sharing.

PS: Andrew suggests Gloucester is not in the front rank of English Cathedrals but it does have the most marvellous cloisters with fantastic fan vaulting.
