Alnmouth Strand

by morpheus71

Autumnal afternoon sunlight gilds the dune grasses sweeping in the sea breeze at Alnmouth - looking out over the river mouth and its strandline, to Coquet Island beyond.

Many Thanks Andy I enjoy making the occasional ‘layer cake’ style photo in transition zones and this one with its myriad hues and textures seemed befitting of such an approach. It was a most pleasant afternoon spent wandering about the dunes and estuary. I hope to get out on a trip to Coquet Island, when I go back up next year to visit my friends up in the North East.

Many Thanks Giulio Vertical compositions seem to work particularly well for scenes with many layers of variant form and textures, I reckon.

Many Thanks Senn I really enjoyed the idea of this composition as I am fascinated by transition zones. The light and the various hues and textures, the overlapping of layers of grasses, estuary, shoreline and sea seemed to compel me to stop at this point. The distant lighthouse added something to draw the eye out to sea and seemed to make a pleasing anchor point to the view.

I highly recommend an unhurried visit to this estuary and beach to anyone visiting Northumberland, there is much to admire about the place.

Really like the clean clear freshness about this, the layers work for me

Many Thanks Malc It was most fortuitous to have had such clear air, interesting clouds and great moments of light on my afternoon there. I didn't see any rain at all on my few days up in the North East

A view I know well. I like your 'layer cake' and especially the contrasting band of green which forms the base of the image.
