Is it a bee or what is it?

by davidwozhere

Macro of a bee-like insect. I have no idea what it is. It has a big fat irridescent bum, its eyes point directly forwards and it has very powerful wings. There are no pollen sacks on the hindlegs.

I've no idea what it is, but I'd be surprised if it's a bee. Interesting little chap.
I know what i like, If not always why.
