Sylvan Pilgrimage

Sylvan Pilgrimage

Photo Information
"In order to be open to creativity, one must have the capacity for constructive use of solitude. One must overcome the fear of being alone."

(Rollo May)

Verdant spring leaves dance slowly in the breeze, as golden hour light filters down into the clearing below the Yealm Gorge - deep in Dendles Wood, on Dartmoor.

* (Dendles Wood is a National Narure Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest - with restricted access, requiring a permit).

Thank ever so much David - it is truly the most beguiling woodland or forest I have ever spent time, so far.

In Germany they have a word that means 'the feeling of being alone in the woods'...Waldeinsamkeit

Which kind of means a mixture of wonderful, poetic, peaceful, calm, relaxed, at one with the universe, infinite, free, loving, meditative.

I wish we had a word in English to describe it out of the 171,476 words in current use!

Thank you very much fro your encouraging comments Charlotte

Tis a shame one can't see it bigger on here - as at full print size preview on Photoshop it is so full of detail.

I am contibuting some images to a joint exhibition in August and am rather keen to add this amongst the images I shall display I think

Possibly one of your best, but with so many of such quality, it really is difficult to pick one above the others.
Best Regards, Larry.

All the gear & no idea.

Thanks very much mohammad It's such an enchanting place, still more to explore, only made it a third of the way round the woods over two evening visits - so easy to get side-tracked by intriguing views. I shall aim to explore the gorge beyond these waterfalls next time!

Thanks ever so much for your extremely generous comments Larry I have become rather fond of this image already... I actually only have one 6x4 inch print up at home out of my entire landscape portfolio... though this place is special to me, so maybe one day I will print a big giclee of it for some room at home, h'mm?
