Dancing in the Moonlight

by MunkyMitz

Dancing Ledge is situated on the coast of Dorset. The area was used for quarrying of Purbeck stone and the ledge is a straight drop off into the sea which is deep enough for small ships to come right up to the ledge. At low tide the sea reveals the pitted ledge resembling a drawing of footsteps for a ballroom number. With the moon full the tide had dropped right down, allowing the ledge to almost dry completely before coming back in.

Thank you very much Andy - So you'll know what a joy the "stroll" back to the car is like laden with equipment

Ha ha - yes! IIRC we were doing a circular walk anyway so weren't laden with all the equipment!

Nice light.

I remember doing that walk with a friend who insisted on taking his video camera, this was when they were big and needed a separate recorder for the tape! All in it weighed about 40kg and was carried in a large cool-box for protection, had handles made of steel rods, ouch!

Lovely place though and the walk keeps the crowds down. Good climbing and snorkeling as well.

Ahh yes, I think I've done all the sections but never the whole walk.

It is an excellent place for coasteering and climbing, plenty of pitches to climb.

I'm not sure how you made it back with all that equipment! Kudos sir!

Absolutely well worth lugging all your gear - great result.

Thanks drobbia, I slightly shifted the hue of the seafoams and applied the Fantasticalising Filter at 85%.
