Re the crop... I had a look at it... to be honest, for me, it ends up placing slightly too much emphasis on the man made objects (the piers, lighthouses, abbey etc), which are great, and the focal point of the picture, but takes them out of much of the context in which they exist (and why they were built in the first place)...
In my head, this picture is essentially about the elements, the sea and the sky, with mankind's engineering sandwiched inbetween them... for me, the more context they're in, the more impressive they are, and the more reason for their existence...
So I know what you mean, and it would undoubtedly make a great photograph, but just not quite the one I was after...
