It's an impressive fortress. Hard to give it justice with limited skills... Googled for some images out of curiosity now and very few of them resemble how I perceived it. Wish I had a tripod that day.
On another note, I sometimes wonder why English Heritage people don't make photo contests for their sites. Most of the images presented on their website are a tad blunt in my eyes. A good photograph can drive a lot of traffic to a place and there are a lot of talented enthusiasts around that would be happy to contribute given nothing but credits.
