Strong, bold... the diagonals in the sky complement the diagonals of the walls leading into the central turret... very nice...

Cheers It's an impressive fortress. Hard to give it justice with limited skills... Googled for some images out of curiosity now and very few of them resemble how I perceived it. Wish I had a tripod that day.

On another note, I sometimes wonder why English Heritage people don't make photo contests for their sites. Most of the images presented on their website are a tad blunt in my eyes. A good photograph can drive a lot of traffic to a place and there are a lot of talented enthusiasts around that would be happy to contribute given nothing but credits.
