Simmering Steamer

by pgweber

On Saturday 7th December 2013, Ex LNER 'A4', No 4464 'Bittern' made the third of three runs this year where it was permitted to run at 90mph (instead of steams' usual maximum of 75mph).

This is in celebration of the 75th anniversary of Mallard's record breaking 126mph attained in July 1938.

The locomotive is seen at the head of the train before departure from York for London Kings Cross.

It was a pleasant surprise to bump into David Trout after taking this photo (recognisable by his two Pentaxes!). We have unknowingly just missed each other at the lineside on the Settle-Carlisle route before now.

Fantastic shot Pete. As always there was a big crowd of 'togs there, and quite a few Pentax users among them. It was good to meet you for the first time.
