Turmoil and the edge that is reason

Photo Information
I have been fascinated at some of the ICM work on here. Here's an example of the trigglehipple technique [shot at hip height with an anti clockwise fast thumb intervention]. Squigglemiggle, twiggleziggle, schmigglepiggle ......these are the technical terms for the hand movements and camera placements required. They have the depth of movement that is afforded to such treasures as Mudra or Tai Chi......important cultural stuff involved in ICM.....I'm serious.

Photography is so much fun isn't it

I love ICM and it's subsequent feel. Some ICM I've witnessed is amazingly profound and artistic. It is like painting with your camera.

There is a difference though in use of digital or film. Obviously digi you can see instantly and experiment. Film has a waiting phenomenon involved. Imagination is required with the taker whatever the medium. If you had a brush full of paint in your hand you would paint canvas....with a camera you paint air.

Have a look at this:

I'll believe you, Gray... I just like the sense of movement and the lumpy grain.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Yes... Great sense of movement and terrific perspective on this...also feels pretty scary in a very stormy kind of a way... A very dynamic photograph...

Yes so easy for these shots to 'get lost', but there is a definite composition and dynamic making for a great atmosphere, yet again would look much better in print I think

So I'm walking down a destroyers deck during a storm near North Carolina and except for my life line I surely would have been washed overboard- this image instantly brought back that scary memory - not your typical reaction to this image, I'm sure, but exemplifies the universality of your work. ICM seems to add another fascinating dimension to your portfolio -Thanks much, tg

The images on this site are as we feel them personally. Of course, photography has reached unbelievable heights in all areas. I Google ICM and a plethora of imagery exists.

Love this: Love chris friel....a flickr contact of mine.

I think in the new examples there is cracking stuff too. A lot of the Pentax Crew are on a roll.
