At the End of the Day

by DOIK

I met Barrie at Durham Cathedral last week, I only took a couple of photos. I was unhappy with the one I had held back for until closing time. I popped back last night to reshoot using the K511s in place of the K5

You must be very pleased with this lovely study.
Best wishes,

Yes - and you've captured quite a dynamic range there!

Looks like the re-visit was well worth the effort John - lovely tones and as Alf says - great dynamic range.

Guys, thanks for taking the time to comment. Barrie was using his Sigma 8-16 mm also and I mentioned I had poor results a few weeks ago and research suggested f8-11 seemed to give the best results. It did not work for me on the night though. That is why I had another go with the K511s , apart from a problem with the auto bracketing it went well. I did try a HDR version but preferred the one that was under exposed by 3.5 stops. I could have made it look like daylight but I wanted to try and show how it was. It is the first time I have been able to keep all of the detail in the Transfiguration Window (Ramsay window)
I can now put this shot to bed now...but a pair of steps might just get the Transfiguration Window on its own.

John
