The Moon, planet Venus ...and the brightest star in Virgo (Spica) form a close triangle in the early morning sky 6.58am on the 3rd Dec 2018

2 Exposures of 5secs blended together
1 @ f4 for Moon (no diffraction spikes) top layer.
1 @f9 for Venus ( with diffraction spikes) bottom layer (Moon cloned out)
Venus from lower layer registered exactly and blended to top layer by selecting 'lighten' in blend options in Photoshop.

Thanks for positive feedback on the image chaps... much appreciated!

I'm not a great fan of photo manipulation but often comes with the territory in astronomical imaging due to either lack of light... or large brightness differences between two or more subjects.

I prefer to be honest when manipulation is used and give summary of the process rather than mislead anyone otherwise how can others learn, I always try to keep it subtle.

Like it or not, the result is very nice indeed (photoshop and its ilk are way beyond me).

Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
