Fallen Rocks

Fallen Rocks

by mille19

These are the fallen rocks on the Isle of Arran.
I found myself using the 18-55mm WR lens more than the 16-45mm on this trip mainly because of the weather.
I have to admit I was pleasantly supprised on the quality of the images, when stopped down to F8 you can hardly tell the difference between images taken with the 18-55 and 16-45 lenses IMHO.

Agree with you about 18-55 performance, .. I noticed similar result with 50-200 stopped at about f11. I'd even say that it's an excellent portrait and landscape lens at f11/80 mm. As for your pic, details and colors are fascinating. Nevertheless, I'm a bit curious about color saturation you probably opted for. Cause I notice some noise at sky, where it's bluest. It's also pity one can not enlarge the pic.

I've just had this photo accepted in a stock library (Fotolia) and they're pretty strict at QCing for noise etc I think what you can see is probably Jpeg artefacts and not noise.
I've just taken a look at my LR setting and I'd upped the vibrance by 26% which isn't a lot as the vibrance in LR is a lot more subtle that saturation.
