its actually a Wood Duck and not a Mandarin.
Learn something every day
Probably my fault that, similar patterns/size but different colour schemes !

George
Was this a captive or wild bird?

Best Regards, Larry.
All the gear & no idea.

Was this a captive or wild bird?
The duck was free to go where it pleased, not sure how wild it was though as it did have a tag/ring on its leg.

Regards,

Nice shot Trixie, its actually a Wood Duck and not a Mandarin. Still lovely to see though.
Yes quite rare but it was tagged , as George says not really free, but thank you for the info, I will change its title. best wishes Trixie
Easy mistake to make, they are sometimes called a Carolina Wood Duck, they are a North American bird and are quite a rare bird to these shores.
Was this a captive or wild bird?
think its a captive it had a tag or ring around it, thanks John for the info never to old to learn...

Nice to see you are out & about me love.
Had a nice day out, cold and windy but still fun thank you Larry, best stuff Patricia
