The last apple

by WaypointCharlie

Nothing special this one, I just thought I'd have a play with the M 50mm f/1.7 that I picked up through PU last month.

I don't think I get the sharpness some people achieve from this lens. That may be down to improving my skills and perhaps ditching the UV filter. Or perhaps I need to use a hood (I've noticed this lens flares easily).

There's also colour fringing on high contrast edges that I haven't managed to lose in PP, but this is quite a tough test.

Can't complain for the money though! I wanted to try it out to see if it was the type of lens I'd use and get on with.

Are the F 50mm f/1.7 and FA 50mm f/1.7 lenses based on the same glass? Are they basically automated versions of the M 50mm?

I think any flare will be down to the filter. Pentax lenses shouldn't flare easily, if at all. So ditch the filter and get a hood.

All the fifties are very sharp indeed . The F has different coatings but the optical formula seems to be the same
