Apex

by Fodwick

Apparently, this is the apex predator in my house. We have a few, which means there is a healthy ecosystem of other spiders for it to dine on.
They build webs catch flies, as this one has, but to catch other spiders, they throw a web net at their eyes and fangs, and attack while they are trying to free themselves.

Cellar spider? There are a great many of them this year for some reason. I have a running battle with one that makes its web beneath the loo seat!

Yes, Cellar Spider.
I was going to try focus stacking, but the only way I could get close enough was on tiptoe on a step ladder! So I went for bokeh instead.
Come and see the beautiful things I see in the ordinary world.

You will likely find a convenient fellow in the garage or an outhouse hanging beneath something horizontal. You have to poke them quite hard to make them move.
