Dutch Apache crew helping out

by 1stEverPentax

Spent all the flying display (8 hours!) next to the Disabled enclosure. Happened to notice these two airmen arrive and start handing out A4 sized laminated pictures of the Apache which they were duly signing..great PR job on behalf of the Dutch contingent...as you might imagine they got a great response from the recipients of this gesture.

Took this 'grab' shot when the opportunity arose...apologise for the 'busy' background but there was just no way to crop the image without losing the essence of it.

Two pilots are from L-R...Major Roland "Wally" Blankenspoor who is actually flying the Apache...ably assisted by Major Harm "Kaas" Cazemier whose job apparently is to ensure that the pilot always has 100% power selected as their routine involves manoeuvres outside normal 'service' limits of the aircraft.

Co-incidentally a couple of hours or more after this shot was taken I was walking back from a quick toilet break...ended up passing the Dutch Apache
trade stand who were handing out free sticky 'Squadron' badges to passers by...lo and behold if it wasn't Wally handing me mine...very friendly he was too. The whole team were a great credit to their nation.
