Fountains Abbey

by nightjockey

Fountains Abbey is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. It is located approximately 3 miles (5 kilometres) south-west of Ripon in North Yorkshire, near to the village of Aldfield. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for over 400 years, until 1539, when Henry VIII ordered the Dissolution of the Monasteries. (Copyright Wikipedia)

A noble pile. Dissolution by Henry VIII...
Best wishes,

Andrew

Fountains is lucky. He totally trashed Coventry Priory to make a point - all the others capitulated. Coventry was about the same size as Fountains.
That aside - nice photo.

Its an excellent image with wonderful clarity.
But I wouldn't want to argue with Henry Vlll over whether he or Wikipedia holds the copyright to the Dissolution of the Monasteries. It could be a life changing contest.
