Amsterdam

by pauljay

Hardly one of the classic shots of Amsterdam but I was reasonably happy with it.
I've never been a great fan of the city but we tried to get away from the tourists which allowed me to see it in a different light. It's not a bad place after all!

A characteristic image, Paul.
Best wishes,

One of the finest cities there is and I always found it easy to avoid the tourists here. The real quality is hanging out with the locals who are super friendly. Nice photo!

You might avoid the tourists but you always run the risk of being run down by bicycles -- and here lies the success of this image (IMHO)

Hmm...can't decide about that one Paul. Possibly would've liked the focus completely on the bikes and their shadows. It may very well be my disappointment with Amsterdam talking here though. I just don't 'feel' that city. There are very few places I visited that I'd be so indifferent to.

Once you get to the area called de Negen Straatjes (The Nine Streets) you find the charm. It certainly has changed my feelings about the city, not totally but it's an improvement! Many thanks for the comments folks!
