At Least One On Every Ranch
Photo Information
This is the classic Aermotor Windmill - really not a mill at all, but rather a wind-powered water pump. These distinctive wind pumps were seen on ranches throughout the plains and deserts which made them a quintessential image of the American West. The first Aermotors were built in 1888; today the company is owned by a group of west Texas ranchers.
This Aermotor sits beside an old riveted iron storage tank. I tried to finish this picture to evoke a mood of the old west.

"These places mean something and it's the job of a photographer to figure-out what the hell it is."

"The camera doesn't make a bit of difference. All of them can record what you are seeing. But, you have to SEE."
