Trying out an extension tube

It is a tube that fits between the lens and the camera body - which allows much greater magnification at close focus distances (but you cannot focus any more at longer distances). Very cheap alternative to a proper macro lens.
I see... so can I also use an extension tube with pentax k-x and an 18-55mm lens kit for better macro shot? I'm really new to photography, any advice is very much appreciated... Thank you!

With the kit lens, your cheapest option would be to buy a close up filter to screw into the front. You can buy them off EBay in sets of three (different strengths) very cheaply, or look for brands like Kood, Hoya or Marumi for reasonably priced filters from reputable shops.
