Thank you for the kind comments.
I hired a k1 from Srs as I was intrigued how it would get with aviation. Unfortunately the weather wasn't on my side and passes very few.
I managed a couple though and A SAR helicopter(will post soon).
Some of you may be aware I've plumped for a D500 and been using that also for the last few month's.
My thoughts well, the k1 is a great camera but unfortunately not for me. I like the larger pixels more flexible with cropping. I wasn't to bothered about the slower frame rate, the only issue and same issue throughout the range I own is the lack of ability to obtain and hold focus in these situations.
I so wish Pentax could catch up in the world with their focusing system then and only then may Remain loyal.
I enjoyed my brief experience but for now the D500 is for me.

Congratulations Al on POTW...very well deserved...about time an aviation shot won!
Interesting to get your views on K-1 vs D500 for this subject matter...how did you find it compared to Nikon for non aviation subject matter?

Well well, POTW. Chuffed with that. Thank you kindly.
Karlo, to be honest I didn't really get the oppertunity to use to it's full potential. I had planned to do some landscapes and daufhter portraits within my surrounding area but quite frankly didn't have the weather. Sod's law. 😔
The brief window I had I headed to the loop but that was also quiet.
One thing I did notice that my 150-450MM and DFA100MM appeared to require the maximum calibration as both were back focusing on the K1.
On my K5iis and K3ii the 150-450mm requires no adjustment and If I remember correctly the DFA100MM is around a + 2or 3 on each camera. Surprised me a bit.
I may again in the near future attempt a 2nd hire of wait ro see what pops up around the corner.
