Mycena type fungus - frosty bonnet?

by davidwozhere

It's fungus time again. This specimen was growing out of a fissure in the bark of a pine tree, looking for all the world like a lamp illuminating the entrance to a darker place. It measured perhaps 7mm tall and 3mm across.

Superb specimen and great image - love the composition, the temptation to crop to focus on the main subject has not been taken

Yes. Confirmed now to be Mycena Adscendens - 'Frosty Bonnet'.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
