Muted Humidity

by LennyBloke

A low level macro image (200mm macro plus 1.4x converter) into the darker detail of the poorly lit plants. The colours are the insipid light green of seedlings so rather than increase their vibrancy I've reduced it slightly and flattened the contrast a little to enhance the tonal range and avoid blowing the highlights on the water drops.

Overall the image doesn't have the same initial impact as more contrasty shots, but viewed at full size the detail and tonal range become its strength. We are often drawn to bold, punchy, contrasty images - but if we tone it down every now and then a different beauty can emerge.

Again, it's best viewed at full size!

Your picture enhaces water drops very well. They come out Sharp and clear. An interesting work.

From 'confusion' to this. I do appreciated this less contrasty look. Super shot which works for me either way.
A punchy conrasty saturated look seems to be a most acceptable look nowadays maybe because of the need too attract immediate attention.
