Male Wool Carder Bee

Photo Information
The male of this very aggressive European species has no stinger, but does have a 3-pronged spur which is visible here on the tip of his abdomen, and which he may use to wound his adversaries. They appeared first in Ithaca NY in the mid 1960's and have since spread out widely in North America, dominating other bee species, to the point they are considered a pest.
