They are very difficult to capture David,
but Catch-in-focus sort of works with practice; however high speed tracking with central focus points selected works better, providing you anticipate, by the insects flight pattern, when he will make a change of height or direction; they always momentarily hover (stop) before and after to scan what is in front of them.
If there is nothing they turn back and repeat the cycle.
I also noticed they momentarily “ put the brakes on when they spot a stationary female.
I sound a bit sad here but “you do get the bug” not to use a pun😀👍

Fantastic work. Try as I might I'm just not fast enough to get shots like that. Plus I guess the K3iii is much quicker than the K3ii.

Thanks for the advice on how to capture thingies in mid-flight. This is an excellent result. I'll have to try to freeze something the next good shooting day (of which we have had darn few these past two months).
