Lindisfarne Castle

by gshoel

Edited shot of Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island to emphasise the elements from a September day.
Happy for comments on how to improve the edit

I love the castle and that coastline. This photo is a lovely reminder. The edit is perfect and reflects the dull grey weather. To boost the colours may impress some but it wouldnt be what you saw and the day. The only thing I would suggest is some slight sharpening.

Lots of different ways to change the edit, but I'm not sure they would improve your presentation. You've got the 3 C's pretty good - Crop (slightly non-standard but using the key elements in the image to their best), Composition (classic foreground, subject and background - simple and effective), Colour (Muted and reflective of the season).

My only criticism is I'd like to see more of your work

I agree with that last comment, above ! If this is an example, I'd like to see more.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thanks for kind words, I think I lost a bit of sharpness in the export somewhere. Still I went back and tweaked the edit in Lightroom.

Thanks for the kind words, i struggled with the composition a bit. I put the beach stones and slipway in the bottom third, the castle and rocks in the middle third and the sky in the top third.

Thanks for your comment, I tried a few B&W edits but they didn't do it for me. I like the rock colour!
