"Flat" is normally taken to mean lacking in contrast and there doesn't seem to be any lack of contrast here.

sorry John i didn't mean to be of with you.

for me the shadow on the face is a bit hard that would be the light source from the left if it was natural then a reflector would of helped.

also i didn't realise it was film and as you can't preview your shot i think you did a v-well

I was just curious as to what you meant. The idea was to produce lots of shadows and give Kelly more "mystery" - the use of harsh "male" lighting was a deliberate choice, but of course it's always a matter of taste.

It is a matter of taste and it is to my taste. There is plenty of contrast from the nearly white light to the upper right of each pupil to the shadows creating depth around the eyes. It is also good to see natural skin rather than photo shopped smoothed skin.

For me I can see there is natural beauty and elegance with in the shot and model. What a nice soft smile and big eyes.

I'm hopeless with portraits like this, so I can't be anything else but impressed. If were me though, I might have been a bit kinder with respect to the skin texture and would probably have smoothed out the appearance of excess makeup on the forehead. Cheating I know, and probably have defeated the object of the picture, but I wonder how the very pretty model felt about it.
