There is something very sad about this photograph. This is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. Any photograph or other piece of art that generates an emotional response is good work and sad is as good an emotion to explore as any other.

The remark is very pertinent.
I agree with you totally, never having felt that photography is about simply (re)producing what is given, and as it is. A photo should not be merely about postcarding or illustrations for technical manuals (for which, actually, line-drawings often do better as they contain only essential information). I didn't mean this photo to be sad. But the image is, in truth, rather empty and meaningless. But, indeed, it might (unintentionally) be strong. Even for anyone who does not know when, where, and why. And I left the functional title as it is—not having found anything better. Thanks for the comments.
