Helios

Zenit Helios 44-K-4 (58 mm f/2) wide open on Pentax K1. This longish standard lens was designed for portraits (f/2-2.8, sharp in the centre, soft around it) and general use (f/4-16, very sharp edge to edge). As for its character/rendering, it resembles the Pentax-K 55/1.8, but it is quite a bit sharper centrally wide open, and seems to resolve a little less stopped down, even though it makes very sharp pictures. A great & subtle (how unique is that) standard legacy lens.

You don't specifically mention that it is a 44 K 4 as opposed to a 44 M 4. These are a little more unusual in K mount - most being M42.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
