I was wondering the same question - fantastic picture whatever.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

I saw this bird in the wild several times on fishing trips near Thunder Bay (Lake Superior) when I was living in the States but never had even the slightest chance of photographing it ( always fleeting glimpses in dusk of dawn light and at distances ) .

But when I got my K3.3 I had a couple of days on BIF l , trying some different combinations of lenses on the K3.3 at the Welsh Birds of Prey Centre; lucky enough to be there when this magnificent bird was free flying.

Even so the bird was very skittish and I didn’t get close enough to get it in flight but fortunately for me, it landed very briefly on this fence giving me enough time to grab this shot.

What a bird though

300mm DA* is still superb
