George - veteran Tees Estuary fisherman

Taken last month at 'Paddy's Hole' the fishermen's haven at South Gare at the mouth of the River Tees. George was inside the fishermen's cafe, dimly lit by a window. K10+DA* 16-50mm lens at 45mm, handheld, 500 ISO.

I don't normally go for B&W, but I do like this one. The face is so full of character you can almost taste the salt. Was this one of your "in their face" method shots.

Thanks Barrie, yes I was quite close up but not this close. I cropped it severely to include only the essential elements to bring out his character.

Very powerful portrait, with good cropping.

Is there any detail in the black areas in the bottom left and top right?
