Try dialling in quite a bit of negative EV. Light colours don't respond the same way as they might on a modern lens. You can retrieve quite dark images but you can't restore the colour quality of bright, light ones.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Yes I agree, these old lenses do not respond to bright colours quite how I am used to. However as per the images I posted on the Forum i am getting better images when they are converted to B&W, quite surprised at the contrast levels this lens is giving.
