Shades of Grey and a Burst of Colour

by GlynM

Last summer I stumbled upon an exhibition of the work of painter Graham Crowley in Peterborough Museum. I was impressed by his work with combinations of greys with bold almost fluorescent colours. While I'm no painter I was inspired to have a go using Photoshop Elements to see if I could create something in a similar style. You can see an image of the painting, titled "Back o’Leap", that inspired me here on a link to the Irish Times. I also noticed that in this image there was also some subtle use of additional colour particularly in the window frames. In hunting around to find a suitable starting image I settled upon a shot I had taken the year before of the chapel in Ash Cemetery which is now used to house Ash Museum. This building though has stone Window frames so my subtle extra colours are used elsewhere .

The original image was shot using a Pentax K-1 with a Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 EX DG @ 28mm.
