Fabulous DoF - bet you didn't think about the colour of the clothes, but they merge into the image and allow the fantastic hair colour to leap out of the frame. Love it.
Everything is possible - just not today.

This really was a spir of the moment shot, I asked him to go behind the tree and look out, I nearly missed the shot he was so fast! This was taken in Wrisley Gardens on a day out there. Greens and browns suit him so it was a given that his cloths would generally match the garden environment.

What I love about the image, something I didn't realise at the time is that he has what looks like a bit of chocolate round his mouth, makes him look even more cheaky!

Now the competition is over I just wanted to say this was my favourite photograph of the lot. Great expression, perfect DOF, lovely colours.

Best wishes, Kris.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Thanks Kris, I appreciate that! It is one of my favourite photos and is up on my wall for all to see.

I did have to 'fake' the depth of field I am afraid! If I had though about it in the field, I would have missed the shot, anyway I think I took it at F5.6, the best my lens could do, now, if I have had the DA* 50-135 at the time...

The selection for the blurring is really well done, the thing that gave it away for me was the grass - it suddenly goes out of focus, rather than progressively as you would expect. I think everything about the foreground is a little too much in focus for the amount of blur in the background too, if you see what I mean, which gives it a bit of a 'cutout' look, but still a lovely shot, with a great expression.

K-3, a macro lens and a DA*300mm...

Thanks! I decided to live with the cut out look as it was less distracting. I used layers and masking and did do some partial masking on the grass, however there was not a clear way to achieve the graduated focus. I may post the origional in the Pics forum.
