The Blue Diamond

The photo shows a section of the facade of the 'Black Diamond', a building completed in 1999 that houses parts of the Royal Danish Library.

The highly reflective surface stems from 2,500 square meters of polished black granite, each piece weighing around 75 kilos.

To some, it resembles a modern, squared pyramid.

The blue colour is caused naturally by reflections in the glass-like facade- partly from the setting sun and partly from the waterfront close to the building.
