B@W take but not exactly what I was hopping for, I will give the macro more use in the coming weeks and definitely will bring the tripod, next time

I think you would be better off focusing on the tip of the sepal that is nearest to the camera rather than the stem - which throws anything nearer out of focus with a big aperture. The idea is lovely.

Much appreciated Davidwoz , I was trying but them old bones of mine are way too shook, to keep up with a macro at close range

To my eye this is spot on - I think the sharp focus point being on the hairy stem (which can only be appreciated at the bigger size) is perfect because the immediate background is dark enough to contrast it. The overall deeper softness of the image gives a lovely feel - I prefer this sort of macro shot to some of the more clinically sharp images

p.s. the choice of mono for what would often be a vibrant colour photo is inspired (IMO) !

Thanks Giulio and Lenny. I was in live view to capture the focus but with such a thin dept of field and my camera was set on single shot, it was always going to be difficult, I enjoyed it though.

Like you said, with a tripod you will nail it. And as LennyBloke said, the choice of mono is inspired - that's why it's worth returning to it. It's a lovely composition.
