Ambience shot of wine glasses at restaurant noma 2009

by kasperbergholt

Found this ambience shot from 2009 when I visited restaurant Noma for the first time in an archived folder.

Pentax K5 & 77mm 1.8 limited lens.

The article starts with a quote from the Russian literary theorist and writer Viktor Shklovsky - introducing & framing what some have termed an avant-garde experience first and foremost - on the concept of ostranenie.

Noma was ranked the world's best restaurant by Restaurant Magazine in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014.

I wonder how it would look without the candle, cropped to just exclude it. The source of the light would remain obvious and the distracting (to me) blown out highlight of the candle wouldn't be there. The left half is great.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Agree with this analysis.

I agree - & placing a hand (or a piece of paper) over the right area, as you suggest, yields a better photo. Thank you for the feedback

One of these day I'll get to Noma - if I can get a mortgage to pay the bill! The light source doesn't bother me!
