This is the sort of image where I would probably have only realised the ant was there when looking on the monitor after shooting!

You are correct ! I had no idea the ant was there. I wonder how many grasshoppers have cowboy ants riding them about ?:lol

Yes, Welcome - it's generally a fun place to be. I've found that ants investigate everything around them and even attack bees that land on flowers they have claimed.
Nice first picture.

Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Thankyou , I am very much a learner despite having been quite enthralled with photography since boyhood .
I hope to learn a bit, socialise a bit and enjoy the company.
