A Carolina Wood duck,

by trixie

From a day out today to Graves Park in Sheffield, this lovely duck , we dont see too many of them so we felt lucky to be able to capture a photo of it. I have been informed by John /Jumbo not a mandarin duck but a Carloina wood duck, so thank you John so much, simular I guess..still lovely to look at.

Easy mistake to make, they are sometimes called a Carolina Wood Duck, they are a North American bird and are quite a rare bird to these shores.

Was this a captive or wild bird?

The duck was free to go where it pleased, not sure how wild it was though as it did have a tag/ring on its leg.
